Lisa Ann Reid closed her eyes and joined Our Savior on the morning of August 11, 2021 at the Astoria Place Nursing Home in Cincinnati, Ohio. Leaving us not only to mourn her passing, but to celebrate her life.
Early Years- Lisa Ann was born on December 13, 1960 in Cincinnati Ohio. From the day of her birth, it was evident that she would occupy a unique place in this world. Lisa had loved for others and Loved God As a child she loved to sing. Her favorite song was “Jesus Loves Me” in church. She accepted Jesus Christ as her savior and was baptized at age 11 years old.
She loved to swim sing camping and loved nature. She enjoyed watching and listening to the birds. She also enjoyed Pathfinder Club and The Girl Scouts. She also participated in the Marching the parades and twirling the baton. She was also fond of dancing and grooved to the tune of The Jackson 5.
Family- Lisa was born into a loving multi-generational family. She experienced life as most children do. She had many cousins, Uncles, Aunts, Great Aunts, and Grandparents.
She had 2 extended (step) sister, brother, and a doting father, John H. Reid who adored her. It’s not precisely clear when sparks became a flame but the relationship between Clarence Banks and Lisa blossomed shortly afterwards and they were united in Holy matrimony in 1984. To this union they parented one child Monet Nicole Banks, Lisa’s step-daughter even after they severed their relationship of marriage, they remained friends.
Lisa was very close to the heart of her Grandmother, Rosa, whom she referred to as “Granny” Lisa was the “Apple of her Eye” Lisa was spoiled rotten!
Education- Lisa early education began in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended Pre-K in Avondale, K-3rd grade at Kennedy Heights Elementary School. And she continued her elementary and Junior High School education in New York.
Lisa returned to Cincinnati and attended Aiken High School where she received her high School Diploma. Shortly after she enrolled at the University of Cincinnati, where she took course in Law.
Career- Lisa had a desire to help people. She was a home health aide. She assisted seniors in their homes until she was unable to due to a back injury. She was definitely in her elements of helping others.
Church- From her formative years she was actively involved in the work of the church. In her youth she served as a pathfinder in the church scouting program. She was also an Usher and Adventist Youth participate and assisted in the Pathfinder Coordinator.
Upon returning to Cincinnati, she became a member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church. In her final years she attended and became a member of the New Hope Missionary Baptist Church next door to the Nursing Home where she resided.
Closing Years- Lisa’s life was not without challenges yet her life was full. Anyone who knew her knew she was a strong-willed woman, with a gentle spirit. While residing at The Astoria Place Nursing Home, she even advocated for the residents who could not advocate for themselves. Lisa was loved and appreciated by the Staff and made friends their Nurse Mr. Everett Carr became her adopted uncle, Mr. Mike past administrator, Jeff Nepper, past social worker and others who took care of Lisa.
She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish the many memories: her parents, John and Arnita Reid; her grandmother, Rosa Odom; her aunt, Marietta; her uncle, James Reid; cousins and a host of family and friends.
